Urbano 12 introduces full support for polyline sections. Polylines can now be drawn directly in Urbano, converted from AutoCAD polylines, or imported from external files such as EPANET INP, EPA SWMM INP, and Esri SHP.
In previous versions, polylines were approximated with branches and vertices with “invisible” nodes — that is no longer necessary.
Vertices represent horizontal direction changes, while vertically the pipe slope remains constant between nodes, with no vertical breaks or slope changes. All vertex data (terrain elevations, invert elevations, stations, etc.) can still be displayed in profiles when required.
Polyline sections can also be easily edited — you can add, delete, or move vertices, or convert a vertex into a node, which splits the polyline into two sections.
Hydraulic calculation using the integrated EPANET engine (and EPA SWMM for sewer networks) is fully supported. Results for heads and pressures are calculated for nodes only, as vertices carry no demands and no changes in slope.
This significantly reduces the number of unnecessary nodes and simplifies and speeds up network design, hydraulic calculation, and result analysis.
