Gas network design software

Software for gas network design, with special functions for design of horizontal and vertical arcs, depending on arc type (inductive, cold-bent, elastic).

Urbano Gasnet PRO makes the design of horizontal pipeline route fast and efficient, along with all necessary changes. Calculation and drawing of horizontal and vertical arcs can be made according to special rules that the user can adjust for certain type of the project.

All standard Urbano functions are available as well – data tables, longitudinal sections (profiles), labels (with special features for arcs), styling in plan, blocks with attributes, functions for editing and renaming… Advanced functions for clash and intersection analysis are available too, as well as export options for various GIS and BIM formats, special functions for excavation data definition and calculation of excavation volumes, various formats of reports, parcel intersection analysis and expropriation analysis.

CORE FEATURES

USER INTERFACE

Program functions can be selected and started from the side-docking Workspace, a Ribbon, a custom created toolbar or directly from the AutoCAD® command line.

The UI adapts to almost any user workflow, saving time and enhancing user experience.

PIPELINE ROUTE

Defining pipeline route is a first step. Gas pipelines usually must cross large distances, which then assumes various obstacles that the designers must avoid (such as low-bearing soils, water-protection areas) or overcome (rivers, roads…).

Designers must also take care of parcel crossings and often must avoid certain properties or zones. Therefore, the pipeline must change the direction often, and those direction changes are always resolved by curved (arc) pipes.

 

DEFINING RULES FOR ARC CALCULATION

Within Urbano Gasnet, designer can define specific rules for arc calculation that will meet given requirements.

Arc rules are based on various parameters, with the deflection angle, arc type and pipe diameter being the most important.

Standard arc types available are inductive, cold-bent and elastic.

HORIZONTAL ARCS

Once the pipeline route was defined, program will consider is as a tangent polygon, and will propose arc radiuses for given conditions according to the previously defined rules.

User can accept program’s propositions or change the solution to make it more suitable for some special case. Once arc parameters were defined, program applies it immediately and arcs are shown in plan and in profile. Program labels arcs with special labels that contain all relevant arc data.

VERTICAL ARCS

Pipe is usually placed on the same depth, as shallow as possible, considering project requirements. This leads to numerous places where pipe will change the direction in vertical route.

Urbano Gasnet proposes arc parameters for those places too, and when applied, vertical arcs are shown in the profile immediately.

When pipe invert is changed in certain part, vertical arcs will be re-calculated and changed automatically.

REPORTS AND TABLES

All the data related to arcs is available within the standard tables, it is possible to filter arcs by type, plane (horizontal, vertical), radius, pipe diameter and all other arc data. It is also possible to generate special reports for arcs.

ARCS MADE OF MULTIPLE SEGMENTS

Cold-bent arcs can be assembled from one or more segments (pipes of certain length) bent on site, by using special bending machines.

In Urbano it is possible to run very detailed calculation of arc made of multiple segments, show those segments in plan and profile, count them, label them, and show them in bill of material.

CROSSING WITH PARCELS AND EXPROPRIATION ANALYSIS

Parcel data can be converted to Urbano polygons and then used to run analysis of crossing with gas pipeline.

Parcels crossed by gas pipeline will be shown within a special table, sorted, along with parcel data and length of gas pipe crossing the particular parcel. Same data can be shown in profile as well.  

By defining buffer zone around the pipeline, it is possible to run complete or partial expropriation analysis, with the information of percentage and area expropriated from the original parcel.
