This is a short testimonial from three students from the Philippines that Used Urbano Hydra.
Serje, Kim and Vincent - thank you very much and keep up the good work!
In the design of an effective water distribution network, modern
tools are being used to be able to calculate every detail of hydraulic
systems that includes pipes, nodes, reservoirs, and other essential
components, run simulations and analysis, and produce promising results
and data that will further be used in making the desired network into
reality. Such tools are widely being used by engineers and consultants
across the globe, either for designing in a smaller scale such a towns or
villages or in a larger scale such as municipalities and cities.
Studio ARS d.o.o, a software company based in Matulji, Croatia,
created the Urbano Infrastructure design software, developed more than
20 years, caters the needs of engineers, consultants, and companies of
their needs in designing systems related to civil engineering especially in
hydraulics, architecture, and geodesy. Studio ARS’s developed systems
of software are based on Autodesk Technology, with expandable features
and modules that are user-friendly and can easily be understood in a short
amount of time. Such systems of software are directly added to AutoCAD
as a plugin, with respect to Autodesk’s versions of AutoCAD and to their
respective system requirements.
One of Studio ARS’s software, Urbano
Hydra, specializes in the design of water
distribution networks, from layout of
different hydraulic objects and respective
analysis, to the optimization of the whole
network project. It can be used for creating a
water distribution network, retrofitting andoptimizing existing networks, and provide several modes of analysis to
determine the behaviour of a network over various aspects such as in
terms of time, and consumption.
As civil engineering students, and future professionals in the future, we
are obliged to perform research and development that may contribute to
the betterment and sustainability of the community. During the fifth year
of our term in civil engineering, we were tasked to accomplish an
undergraduate thesis, as part of the requirements for the course, and with
that, we chose to design a revamped water distribution for Barangay
Godofredo Reyes Sr., Ragay, Camarines Sur, Philippines.
We were to redesign the existing water distribution network that has
been subjected to deterioration for over two decades, as well as resolve
the community’s issue on groundwater dependency, exposed pipes, and
pipeline connections.
With that, we used different software to meet our demands in
providing a reliable distribution system for the community to make of use
for years to come. Google Earth, QGIS, EPANET, AutoCAD, and Civil
3D. But one software stands out for the best experience for our team. It
was the charm of Urbano Hydra that gave us excellent remarks from our
panelists during the final defense of our undergraduate project. It was
unlike any other various software out there.
The software interface is quite easy to grasp, and with the webinars
provided by StudioARS, we were able to optimize the water distribution
network with more detailed information and schematics. The
user-interface of Hydra was indeed user-friendly, which enabled us to
design the network carefully and efficiently, without experiencing
difficulties. From pipeline detailing to pipeline optimization, we were
able to produce a project that can also be used by neighboring
communities.
We were also able to explore a lot of functions Hydra has to offer,
but due to the recent pandemic, we were time-constricted and had little to
no communication to our team, but that does not stop us from learning
about the software. We had to push forward even if there were lots of
limitations. Even if our undergraduate project is over, that does not mean
that we will just stop there. We would still make sure that the project will
be materialized in reality, so that the community will actually be supplied
with water, as they should be. We would still continue to re-learn and
discover more about Urbano Hydra, and maybe in the future, the various
software Urbano has to offer to us.
We would like to express our gratitude to StudioARS, for allowing us to
experience the amazing features of Urbano Hydra. To Mr. Mihael Vaic,
we thank you for providing us the opportunity to learn the concepts of
one of your Urbano software. We are so grateful of the services you and
your team have provided for us. We would be glad to share our wonderful
experiences to our colleagues and to our university.
Mnogo vam hvala!
