Urbano 12 now supports data shortcuts, allowing you to export pipe networks and DTM surfaces to project folders — whether on your local computer, a shared network location, or the cloud (e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud via Desktop Connector). These pipe networks and DTM surfaces can then be imported into other drawings as references.
When source drawings are modified (and changes are exported), the referenced pipe networks and DTM surfaces can be automatically updated in your current drawing.
Referenced pipe networks and DTM surfaces are locked for editing, meaning you can’t add or modify geometry or data. However, all functions that don’t change the elements remain available — such as data tables, labels, profiles, thematic maps, marking, queries, cross-sections, reports, intersection analysis, and more.
If needed, you can promote a referenced pipe network or DTM surface to be fully editable within your drawing — at which point it becomes disconnected from the source file.
This workflow is similar to Civil 3D data shortcuts, but based on entirely different technology. It’s part of the new Collaboration module, and is not included in Urbano Ultimate.
