In every civil or GIS project some tasks are based on raster images of different scale and type. Sometimes there are lot of raster images which can significantly slow down the normal functioning.

Urbano Raster is one of the smaller utilities which significantly increase efficiency when manipulating with the larger amount of raster images inside of AutoCAD.

The main characteristics of Urbano Raster

Raster grouping.
If maps are coming from different sources or they are of different scales it is possible to make so called 'raster groups'. Raster groups can be placed on separate layers. Connected rasters can be shown according to groups or can be showed all together. Manipulating with the raster groups is very easy.

Connecting of raster images.
Through Urbano Raster it is possible to connect AutoCAD drawing with the raster images. Connecting uses world files (tfw, jgw, ...) which usually came with basic rasters, to correctly calculate real position and size of the raster. Another option, which Urbano Raster accepts are georeferenced rasters, when parameters of real position of the rasters are saved in the raster image itself. Process of connecting does not load or show rasters immediately in the drawing. In that way it is possible to connect hundreds of rasters in a just few seconds.

Drawing of raster boundaries.
When all raster images are connected it is very easy to draw rectangles which exactly show the position and the name of each raster image in the group. That process is extremly fast and does not show the raster. In that way hundreds of rasters can be recognized in the drawing, without any slow down of perfomance.

Showing of rasters.
When rasters are connected it is possible to really show/load some rasters. It is possible to select specific raster from the list and show it. Better and more optimal way is to use spatial selection of specific rasters using internal points, crossing window or fence line. If hundreds of rasters are connected it is possible to load just rasters which are placed on specific position.

File path.
One of the very important features is connected with path to raster image (folder in which raster image is placed). If rasters are connected and in meantime change the path, it is possible, for the whole group, to define the new path.

Other functions.
It is possible to zoom to any raster from the list. Also it is possible to zoom to some part of the drawing and automatically load all rasters which can be visible in that view.
