Urbano software family
 
Urbano software family has been created to help the manipulation with infrastructure objects by giving emphasize to pipes in sewage and water distribution systems.

Urbano family completely works within Autodesk platform (AutoCAD based products). The preferable platform is AutoCAD Civil 3D. All the versions from 2007 to the latest one are supported. 64 bits versions are supported as well.

Urbano software family is a modern application with attractive user interface. The software is stable and fast. It is focused to pipe infrastructure objects and offers a lot of functions necessary for effective design.

The program is adapted to many specific rules and practices for countries in Central and Eastern Europe. StudioARS has established excellent connections with partners in every country which takes care about effective use of the software.

Modular Structure of Urbano

  

From Urbano modules it is possible to create packages, such as Urbano Canalis, Urbano Hydra, Urbano GIS and Urbano GEO. Every package has a basic configuration. Additional modules can be added to the basic configuration as well. For example Urbano Canalis basic package consists of next modules:

1.       Layout – network definition, editing, data definition, labelling, table views

2.       Longitudinal sections – longitudinal sections creation and management of

3.       Sewage – specific sewage functions with hydraulic calculation

4.       Terraform – digital terrain modelling

 
If it is necessary,  to basic Urbano Canalis package GIS module can be added, to enable connection to external sources, such as external databases, SHP or MapInfo files, and work with them,. In that way different Urbano modules can be associated to create the package which will fit best the customer needs.

Design and GIS association

 
One of the StudioARS development basic ideas is to associate design and GIS functions. Very often, when new pipe system design is an issue, it is necessary to analyze existing systems in the area of interest. Usually, the existing systems have been stored as GIS formats. On the other hand, when creating GIS system, it is very convenient to define or check pipe infrastructure data with some design functions.

In that way design packages such as Urbano Canalis or Urbano Hydra have built in some well known GIS technologies like arbitrary data definition (user data, virtual data), thematic mapping, query functions and so on. If specific GIS module (Database Extension) is added to Urbano Canalis or Hydra, it is possible to capture design data from external databases (Access, Oracle, SQL Server, ...) or some specific sources (SHP, MapInfo, ...). When the new system has been designed and built it is very easy to transfer data to GIS system.

In Urbano GIS, it is very useful to create and check the data using some design techniques. For example, pipe data such as diameters, slopes and pipe inverts can be easily checked by drawing the longitudinal sections. Because of implemented topology, existing system can be transferred to one of hydraulic modelling software and without the additional setup, it performs hydraulic calculation, which shows the real system behaviour.
